In 1983, Mary started making baskets as a hobby. She began designing and weaving baskets with her husband, Byron, in 1991 using a variety of antlers, such as mule deer, whitetail deer, and
elk. Her baskets are currently sold and displayed in Art Galleries, Craft Centers, and gift shops in Arizona, Utah, Montana, Idaho,
New York, Alaska, Pennsylvania, and Nevada. These hand crafted, custom-made baskets are quite unique, as each basket is designed and
woven around each individual antler. No two baskets are the same. Basket size, shape and style is determined by antler type and dimensions.
Recently, Mary has started using moose antlers. Natural antler colors range from white/weathered to grey to
various shades of brown.

Materials used in the creation of these baskets are various sizes of rattan round/flat reeds and coiled
seagrass. Occasionally willow, grapevine, and various other natural materials are used, upon request.
Reeds are dyed in a multitude of colors to match any decor. Some commercial dyes are used, but most baskets are dyed with natural colors derived from walnut shells and flowers. Wood stains are also used to obtain a variety of deep, rich brown colors.
These baskets can be used as decorative pieces with flower arrangements or can set alone as a functional, decorative
or conversation piece. Wall hanging baskets are also available and are very popular.
